Do you have either the DSL modem or the D-Link wireless connected to a surge protection strip? If you do, remove their plugs from the strip and plug them directly into the wall.

Both devices have surge protection inside. What happens, the surge protection in the DSL modem or the D-link will get confused when it tests the line and hang up.

Powder down the DSL and wireless. Plug into the wall... Start the DSL, wait a minute... start the wireless...

You can call your DSL tech support and ask them about the surge protection problem.

Cables are another usual suspect. Buy good cables.

Still having problems... Can you plug directly into the DSL modem's ethernet port? You need to isolate the problem.

It could come down to a defective DSL modem or D-Link wireless.

Move the cable to a different port and see if you get lines on that port. If you do, then the original port is bad. Cheaper to replace router that to repair a bad port.

You should also try a different network cable, in cause something happened that dmamged the cable.

Make sure that you have your cable or DSL modem plugged into the "download" port on the router. There is only one port if that will work for the modem. If that is the "bad" port, then you will need to replace the router.

Anything from a power surge, to stactic electricity, to dirt getting into the port could cause it to go bad.
