That the next pres election has pretty much been handed to the democratic party( by Bush`s actions while in office) and when there is a pretty GREAT chance of this, the demo candidates will most likely be between a black and a woman. Do you think that this issue will help the republicans ?

This is not meant against women or blacks, just meant that there has never been either in office before and it would be a interesting election

Unfortunately it could be. I'll vote for Obama if he runs.

What I find ironic is that so many of you are so busily predicting the outcome of a Presidential Election that is still two years off. I'd like to call your attention to the fact that, in 1998, who knew anything about George W. Bush other than he was the Son of a former President and Governor of Texas. Would you have predicted that he's unseat the Democrats annointed successor to Bill Clinton? For that matter, in 1990 who even heard of Bill Clinton? He was a no-name Governor from a small southern state. He got lucky after the "Read-My-Lips" thing went South for GHWB or we might have gone directly from one Bush to another.

I am an Indian. If the next President happens to be a black, I would be very happy and will salute the Americans for their courage and conviction in democratic values. I have complete faith in the Americans that some day, if not in the next election, a black will be elected the President.

I don't think it has been handed to anyone! It does not matter what race, gender, democrat or republican you are. It should matter if you can do the job. I don't think Obama has the experience that he needs to run this country. As for Hillary forget it she would not be doing it for her country!!! It is still awhile before election lots of things can happen before then.

Depends. I would vote for anybody...ANYBODY...other than Hillary.

On the other hand, Barack Obama impresses me. I don't necessarily agree with his politics, but the man is definitely impressive. I tend to be a lot more conservative than Obama, but I would like to see what he can do if given the chance.

The reality of it is, if I can find somebody who isn't an extremist, Democrat or Republican, they will get my vote. Both parties are full of self-serving idiots. While both sides spout different agendas, the fact is that in the day-to-day world, they are almost identical. Neither party really serves the people anymore, they are both about protecting their power when they have it, and discrediting the other party when they don't.

Race has nothing to do with it for me. Although he has already played the card. I want to see the debates between Obama and Hillary. See the gloves come off. I want to see who wins their primary and the Democrat ticket. If you vote for Hillary, how will the black vote feel? Will this start the call of racism in the Democratic party? Come on 08 I can't wait to see this play out!

First, I don't believe that the next Presidential election has been handed to anybody.

Alot can (and will) happen in the next two years.

I think we are going to see a viable third option. I think the era of a two party dominance is over.

Obama is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. Bottom line where Obama is concerned is he has not get the experience to lead this country. Not yet and not in two years.

As for Hillary, well, Hillary has to overcome a number of skeletons that are going to come pouring out of her closet any day now.

You know who I like? Colin Powell. I like him and I trust him and I hope he takes it into consideration to throw his hat into the ring.

What's ironic about fielding women or blacks as candidates vs. the incompetence of the current guy, who won't be running?

I guess, to answer the question - no, I don't see any irony there.

Will it help the repubs? The kind of voter who would decide based soley on gender or race is the kind who buys the vilification of "liberals", as labelled by RNC spin anyway, so it shouldn't really make a difference.

If you are referring to Obama and H. Clinton, I doubt either one can win. Obama is too inexperienced, Clinton is not electable. If either one is the candidate in the general election, Republicans would most likely win.

I find it ironic that we are such a great country, yet some closeminded people still worry about race or gender as far as leaders. Please, the fifties called, they want those folks back.
