I work for a nationwide courier company, this year we got £100 Christmas bonus which was more like £67 once tax and NI had been taken off.
The worst Christmas bonus I have heard of is Tesco, possibly the largest retail company in the UK making billions of pounds profit a year, and a friend of mine who works on the checkouts told me that they got a book of vouchers to use instore. The vouchers were of the type '£2 off when you spend £20', or '£5 when you spend £25 on Xmas decorations'. Cheapskates.

I don't get one at all because I work for a charity. However, when you sign up to a charity you know that you're not going to get bonuses and high salaries. if I worked for a large aerospace company I'd be really pee'd off with a £20 voucher. I used to get more than that when I was a waitress at age 19 (£20 + box of chocolates) and that was from a small family business.
You should get on to your union. maybe ask for bonuses to be linked to the profit of the organisation...?

Big fat nothing, but a fair amount of free booze at parties. I saw that at one city bank, 200 people are getting more than £2 million, with a few getting £20 million, sickening isn't it?

Last year we got a small hamper filled with mainly jam and a christmas party. Not great, but wouldn't knock it back either!

Bonus? what's that, then? Surely I should be most grateful that the company I work for has graciously allowed me to work for them; a bonus would simply be too much, wouldn't it??!
Hey, if you are getting something for nothing, don't knock it!
