If she does not have a backup(dumb, dumb dumb, but it happens) Do NOT do anythig to this disk. It is possible that she will still be able to read in her floppy drive. Some times the heads on floppy drives can get out of wack. What is written in that drive then will not be able to be read in any other. Of course yours may be the one out of wack, have you checked yours using a floppy written in another computer?

Good luck.

Yes. and if you don't format, the computer cannot read it. The diskette i'm afraid, is toast.
Try to use something more reliable than a floppy next time, like a flash/pen drive, or email important documents to yourself so you can print from any location anywhere in the world you have an internet connection.

Silly question did she give you the correct disk?
Silly question number 2; is your drive working properly?

If its the right disk and your drive works, then chances are the disk itself is pooched. There is a small section on floppies that is kept as a file table; more than likely its become damaged and that is why you can't read the diskette.

Tell her to e-mail it to you.

Sounds like the floppy is bad - ditch floppies and either use email or if the file is too big, use a USB flashdrive. They are really cheap and much more reliable.

If you format the floppy, all the files will be lost.

Either she gave you a bad floppy, or your drive is bad and can not read.

You will have to have her copy it to a different floppy, or better - have her e-mail it as an attachment to you. No floppy to worry about.
