depends what do you like watching all your favorite channels without the hassle of your sreen going black through a snow or rain or thunder storm, or would you put up with the hassle and waiting for those channels to come back on after the storm is over and when it snows would you want to go out and clean the snow off the dish if it snowed hard. i prefer to stay inside and call the cable company if a mishap happens so they can fix the problem. what about not having a signal for a channel or program that you want to watch, i wouldn't want that. i have cable.

cable is more reliable so i'd say cable. I have had many friends with dish and direct go back to cable, I have the three in one cable telephone and roadrunner and it's about what I paid for my telephone every month when you add in my long distance bill. So for me cable is very economical.

It depends on where you are, but dish network has consistently been rated better than direct TV by consumer reports.
cable varies rather widely (price) depending on where you are. You also need to factor in whether you need HD or regular programing.
