1. let x=first part
x+x+1+x+2=48
3x=45 (subtracted 3 and added like terms)
x=15 (divided by 3 both sides)
so the answer is 15cm, 16cm, and 17cm
2.let x=width
x+x+3+x+x+3=54
4x=48 (subtracted 6 and added like terms)
x=12
so answer is length is 15, and width is 12

1)

x+ (x+1cm) + (x+2cm) = 48cm
3x + 3cm= 48cm
3x = 48cm - 3cm
3x = 45cm
x= 45cm/3
x= 15cm

So, 1st part is 15 cm, 2nd part is 16cm and 3rd part is 17cm

2)
2a + 2b = 54cm
b = 3cm + a
2a + 2(a + 3cm) = 54cm
2a + 2a + 6cm = 54cm
4a + 6cm = 54cm
4a = 54cm - 6cm
4a = 48cm
a= 48cm/4
a= 12cm

So, b= a+3cm = 12cm+3cm=15cm
