Ghazal is poem ,generally , containing 4 to 12 shers. It always opens with a rhyming couplet . The rhyme of the opening couplet is repeated at the end of second line in each succeeding verse, so that the rhyming pattern may be represented.

In ghazal every sher is seprate from other,unlike nazam, and therefore each sher has its own meaning and value. I mean in ghazal there is not central theme, in first sher shayar may talk about love and in second he may talk about death.

Ghazal is just a form and so it can be in any language , till all the rules of a ghazal are followed.

As far as ghazal singer is concerned, presently in India Jagjit Singh is undisputedly best. However, in my personal opinion it is not the ghazal singher which matters most to enjoy a ghazal it is the the lyrics itself which is the soul of any ghazal.

Gazal is a form of singing, really good singers can adopt gazal gayan as singing ,it requires lot of passion & patience.It is sang from the depth of heart.No one is best to name one is insult of other in bazal but really famous & good singers in india r -jagjit singh,pankaj udas,chitra singh,roopkumar & sonali rathod.

it is jagjit singh no doubt just hear him once to become his fan..
i hate him as i don't like gazals we call him dukhi-atma (sad-soul)
