Whay can she possibly get out of it?
How about satisfaction by helping someone who is unable to help themselves.
What is more important children or TREES?
You're probably one of those kids that grew up with a SILVER spoon on your mouth, was sheltered all your life, and had everything you ever desired.
You never stopped to see all the suffering that exists around you. As long at it didn't effect you, it never concerned you.
You probably took up saving trees as a hobby because you had nothing better to do. But since your friend is actually volunteering to help charities, you can't have her besting you.
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!

First of all, I don't know how you can call her self-centered when she is giving of herself to help children. What could be more important than helping our future generation? Get a grip...sounds like you are the jealous, self-centered one, not her. Maybe you should think about getting involved in a charity,. too.

It's a growing problem, and you are not alone. My Uncle Wilber regularly spends weekends helping disabled people to go hiking etc. If he was less self-centred, he'd spend the time shoring up his roof so his own family don't get drenched when it rains.
I feel for you.

It's her life. What are you doing in yours? What does she get out of it??? "The good within the action"
Goodness in the action is what counts not the consequences that follow the action. Most people perform an action because of the consqeuences that follow. "What do I get out of it?"
Your aunt is performing an act merely for the good that is within the action. I am proud of her, you ought to be too.
