The Cyprus problem can be solved only when the foreign occupation ends and the basic human rights of all the people are respected. The people should receive their property back and allowed to live and work anywhere they please. They should be allowed to vote and get elected where they reside. The governement should not support an appartheid system based on religion and language. No foreign interests can be accomodated in Cyprus we have enough problems on our own.

There's no easy solution. Both Nations lay claim to the land and both are allies to the UK. Because of this, unfortunately, it's none of our business. If we side with the Greek Cypriots fully then Turkey will pull out of any deals, such as the Eurofighter, and will deny our forces a staging point in their Country. If we side with the Turks, then the Greek Cypriots will want to get rid of the British Sovereign land in Cyprus (RAF Akrotiri and Episkopi.) These are incredibly vital to us, for access to the Middle East. We certainly don't want to lose them.

We're stuck in-between two friends arguing with each other. We can't take sides. All we can do is stand back... Sorry.

It's very sad but what are we to do - Britain is between a rock and a hard place with the risk of upsetting otherwise good relations with both Turkey and Greece.

I was born in Limassol, and would dearly love to have the island reunited, but I doubt it will ever happen. I consider Cyprus to be my home and it's upsetting to see it divided like this. The talk of a referrendum a few years ago seemed like a glimmer of hope, but even that failed.

If you remember, there was a referendum if the two Cypruses should unite. They refused it. I think the only solution would be if there was a consent in Cyprus, and Greece and Turkey would be left out of this.

SIMPLE SOLUTION - BRING IN GOOD TRADING RELATIONS BETWEEN ALL COUNTRIES INCLUDING GREECE, TURKEY, TRNC & SOUTHERN CYPRUS, and only ever unify Cyprus if both sides can agree on a specific proposal.
