Unfortunately, the "due date" is a best guess by your OB. They base it on the date of your last period and of course, we know that most women conceive somewhere between day 14 and day 21 of their cycle (and I believe the statistic is that women are only "fertile" for 3 days during their cycle). Hence, the "guess." The reality is that most first time pregnancies go past the due date. That's why the doctors will tell you anytime between 38 to 42 weeks (2 weeks before your due date and two weeks after). For all our advances in technology, they still can only guess at the "delivery window." Myself, I was 39 weeks pregnant to the day when I went into labor. And due dates and guess work aside, it all depends on when the little munchkin is ready to make his or her grand entrance. It has everything to do with his/her lungs being mature. The babies lungs actually release a hormone into your blood stream that says "Hey, we are ready! Let's get this party started!!" Those hormones trigger your brain to say, "Ok, time to start the labor!" Cool, huh? So, as much as you don't want to hear this, you could be pregnant for up to another 3 weeks. EEP! Or, you could go into labor tomorrow. I know the end days of pregnancy suck. You can't move, you have to pee every 5 minutes, your back hurts, your legs hurt, your feet and hands are swollen to monstrous proportions and you begin to wonder whose brilliant idea it was to get pregnant in the first place! I'm here to tell ya sista, it does get better. Very soon you will have your little piece of immortality in your arms and it will all have been worth it. So, hang in there, congratulations and Happy Holidays!!

I was given two due dates for my first child and never really understood why? But she arrived exactly on one of the due dates. Hang in there. It feels like a long wait at the end but baby will show up when ready. I got impatient and went on long walks - don't know if it helped but kept my mind active. My second child surprised me by coming a month early. Good luck and enjoy the peace and quiet!

for your second question, you can pick. the difference between the two days isn't going to matter much.
some women do deliver early with the first child, but it is much more common to be late. i can tell you, though, that the percentage of women fed up with their first pregnancy by 39 weeks is quite high. probably nearing 100%. i was a labor nurse for six years before i got pregnant, and i cried at every visit to my doctor starting at 34 weeks because i was so miserable being pregnant. so i do understand. but i also have seen firsthand why we shouldn't rush things along by inducing labor unless it is absolutely necessary. it just isn't safe, for either of you.
i tell my patients when they get to this stage, the best thing you can do is take the best care of yourself you can. eat good food (i mean good for you), drink lots of fluids (anything without caffeine or alcohol), take warm showers or baths, and rest, rest, rest. put your feet up. or better yet, get someone to rub them. and do things you enjoy to distract yourself, like reading or watching movies or doing crafts. pamper yourself a little. it won't take away all the discomforts of pregnancy, but it might make you feel a little better, and keep you sane, during these last days.
good luck.

I had 4 different due dates hon, and my son was born on none of them. The original was june 14, then the 16, then the 15th........finally went back to june 1, and he came along on may 27.The scan is the more accurate date to go by, because they can chart how the baby's developing according to what stage of pregnancy your in. Keep the faith, your little one will be here any time.

Walking is helping to kick begin your muscle tissue inflicting contractions. The principal matters is to hold secure. You are not able to loosen if you're worrying on clenching the entire muscle to your frame. Do your respiring plenty. Mind over topic, you'll do it! You too can check out a scorching bathe this will support to transport matters alongside and support chill out you. I determined it to be instead bloodless despite the fact that, i might no longer get the water scorching adequate within the health center, lol. Like i mentioned earlier than keep secure and do your respiring. Your frame will realize whilst the time is proper. it's going to be over earlier than you are aware of it. Congrats! It doesn't really matter, they're only 2 days apart. Take the date of your last period, then go back 3 months and then add 7 days. That will give you your true due date. 'Folklore'.

Don't focus on the date, you could have 2 weeks to go ro you could go tomorrow. I was 10 days over my 'date' which was very frustrating but just go with it, relax and enjoy your last few days of peace!
