I was a husband of a den mother a couple times so the bigger project usually ended up with me (not complainin', just explainin'). A cool thing we did was make a wooden box to hold collectables, at the time most were for poke'men cards or a baseball cards. All "custom" painted to each ones taste. To this day, as the kids are now young men, they still tell me they have their "collection" boxes and remember making them.

they are many ways to do something for scouts.......one of the ways is that you can sponser the children for a fun day out,,,,or otherwise if the camp counseller is reluctant then you can create your own creative art workship at the camp......You can also organise an exhibition of which the sole purpose is to teach the young ones something.......

Fun holiday project to do if you can get the supplies. I did this as a camp fire girl. Get pine cones, put them in a base like a jar lid. I think we soaked the pine cones first and then sprinkled grass seed. After a few days, the grass seed sprouts and they have mini-pine trees.

Get some large carboard pieces, maybe from fridge boxes or something and then get them to trace around each other and then have them paint, draw, etc themselves as pirates, or such and these can make it look like you have more kids at meetings and they will love to take them home later
