I think the doctor should never turn up in torchwood. The two shows are so different and for such different audiences they should never meet.

There are no plans for the doctor to pop in Torchwood but Captain Jack will be returning to Doctor Who in the last 2 episodes of Series 3.

well I believe Captain Jack appears in the final episode of the third series of Dr Who. Wouldn't it be interesting to see the same story done twice by both shows; once from the Doctors point of view and the other from Torchwood.
PS lets not forget the Doctor's had a hand in Torchwood throughout the series...

I think he may show up in the final episode of Torchwood just before the New Series Starts! (This is just an opinion) I also think that the hand that Captain Jack has in the Jar is the one that the Sycorax cut off the doctor (christmas invasion) while he was still in his regeneration process!

John Barrowman (Captain Jack) has claimed that Dr. Who won't feature in Torchwood. "Doctor Who is for children, is a base for family viewing and children. Torchwood is not. I dunno yet but, the Doctor will never come into Torchwood." Presumably they want to keep Torchwood at some distance from the original Dr. Who series to reduce pressure on parents/guardians from children wanting to watch the episode(s).
Captain Jack will feature in the upcoming third series of Dr. Who though.
