If you have water in your engine drain the oil, since oil floats on water you will be able to see if water comes out of the oil pan before the oil. The radiator should all so have oil mixed in with the water. This can get expensive, your head could be cracked, or the head gasket could be blown. Either scenario is not cheap.

First of all, water out of your tailpipe does not mean that there's water in your engine. Water will form on your tailpipe in any condition, even in brand new cars. It's condensation.
Next, how did you get water in your engine? Submerged in a puddle, some kind of weird accident adding water to the wrong part or do you think you blew a gasket?
If you blew a gasket, most likely between your block and heads, THEN your engine will blow grey, steam-like smoke. This can be expensive, but in many cases, can also be done at home by someone who knows what they're doing. You will most likely smell the antifreeze buring as well.
Pull out your spark plugs and change your oil--drop your oil pan altogether if you can. Change your oil filter as well. Try and turn the engine over without starting it, clearing out any excess water in the cylinders. Water will not compress in an engine cylinder during the compression cycle, and the added pressure can either blast a gasket out of it's way, or bend a rod or valve.

If you have water in the oil, it will show up on the dipstick. It will look like mayonnaise or chocolate ice cream depending on how dirty the oil is. The water will not sink to the bottom of the crankcase for many days, it will be come emulsified with the oil as it circulates through your engine with the oil.
The repair cost will depend on how it got there. If you have a blown head gasket, that will be a few hundred $$$ to fix. If a head is cracked, around $500 - $1,000 depending on the car. If it's a cracked block, $1,500 - $5,000 for a new engine.

water will drip from exaust pipe all the time, you may also see other than grey smoke, you will lose water from coolant system, oil dip stick may have foamy substance on end.if engine block is cracked i think time for a rebuilt engine.if car is kind of new get a rebuilt engine, its cheaper than new car.2000.00 installed.head gasket may be warped.one last thing if it is water it may of overheated, and never put water in a hot engine thermal shock is simmilar to putting an ice cube in water it cracks.good luck.it just may be condensation out of exaust pipe untill it warms up

pull the oil dip stick from the side of the engine block & check if there's a water under oil in the dip stick. remember that oil & water dont mix. cost of repair will depend on the internal parts that were damaged plus the service fee.

Check the oil dip stick and see if it is cloudy white on it.
Also check the reservoir or radiator to see how much water your losing.
And finally if your engine overheated and you have aluminum heads, they are warped now and will have to be shaved and I would replace the springs and valves as well.
If you have cast iron you got a blown head gasket.

pull the oil stick & look at the oil if it a milky color then you have water in your motor. it could be a blown head gasket or a crack head,to replace the gasket could be as much as $500, if it the head $$$$.to find out for sure you will need to put it in the shop & ask for an est.

On a liquid cooled bike I would suspect a leaking head gasket Price to fix will depend on if you do repair yourself or have a shop do it and whether or not the head is cracked

Look on dip-stick. Water will appear as drops or if significant will be space under oil line. (oil floats on water). As for cost, too many variables.
