Most often when you have a great amount of interior fog it is a sign of a leaky heater coil. Sense it is only used when it is cold the foggy windows only show up then. Because a lot of heater coils are located within the interior, usually behind the glove box. if you have a leak the windows will fog. Another sign to look for is a sweet sort of maple odor this comes from the antifreeze that circulates through the coil. If you have foggy windows and this scent, a heater coil replacement is the answer.

For cleaning the windows...vinegar works, ammonia works, and of course, regular Windex. There is also this stuff we have over here called Invisiglass or something--it comes in an aerosole can and works great.

As for the fog, if you smear your windows' inside with a can of shaving cream (that MUST have menthol in it), then wipe it off, it will keep your windows from fogging up so often. Give it a shot in yuor bathroom first if you want, before you take a shower. If you applied it right, when you get out of the shower, your mirror will not be fogged up. Remember though, it has to have menthol in it to work. Toothpaste is also supposed to work.

If it's an air-cooled VW, you have an oil leak. Get it fixed. If the environmental police (NO JOKE! Lived in Germany for 3 years!) find an oil leak (spot on the ground, etc.) the fine will take your breath away. Your German neighbors will probably report a leaker so take care of it quickly!

If it's water-cooled, you have a leaking heater core. Same answer as above, though that's less likely to be seen outside the car. You'll need to replace it with a new one.

NO matter how clean those windows are, your gonna get fog unless you match the external temperature to the internal temperature and the way to do that is too leave your windows cracked open at night and the day.

NOw as for cleaning Windows, I would use dishsoap 10:1 ratio and wash your windows that way and that will eliminate the greasy film.

Do you or did a prior proprietor smoke interior the vehicle? if so somewhat clean the glass properly with some glass cleanser such by using fact the form you get interior the aerosol can. it somewhat is extra like a foam than a liquid and it will clean plenty extra beneficial. Wiping the domicile windows from the interior while they get foggy will merely smear this smoke residue and could no longer clean up your situation with out competent cleansing... if that's the situation. desire this could help! I also have a similar situation each and every time it starts off getting chilly outdoors and frost and snow starts off develop.

First clean the windows good with the windex. Then apply RainX. It will keep the windows from fogging. If RainX isn't available try going to a shop that sells eye glasses, sometimes they sell something similar.
