One of Poe's very best DETECTIVE stories (not horror/detective story, but just plain detective story) is "The Purloined Letter." It can be read, understood, and enjoyed, by anyone in the age-range of 7 years to 117 years.

"The Purloined Letter," and yes, a 14-year-old can read it. It has a nice twist at the end which I won't spoil by summarizing it for you...it's a quick read. Go for it!

murders in the rue morgue. murder mystery top floor room locked inside body open window on 6th floor ck it out. u will not figure out until they tell u.
