Which football team considering its resources, size of town, financial backing etc has been the most successful. My arguement would be the team I support Ipswich Town, league success, cups and england managers and captains have come from the club. Any other clubs who you think would be more worthy.

Nottingham Forest definetly, even though we're in League 1 now, Nottingham's the smallest city to have a European Cup winning team, & about the players we've had Psycho, Roy Keane, Des Walker, Peter Shilton & many more plus the best manager not to of managed England in Old Big Ead

Crystal Palace. They have been in the top flight, been in lowest, and still keep fighting.

The have a great Academy bringing on the future top flight footballers.

Ian Wright, Mark Bright, John Salako, Alan Pardew to name but a few of the past top players.

Malcom Alison, Steve Coppell, Terry Venebals to name a couple of managers.

In my opinion a worthy club.

Reading FC, i live there and i follow them but not support them.

I support Liverpool but as you wanted a team in a small town with not that much money available, i chose Reading.

note: John Madejski has lots of money at Reading but rarely allows that for use with the team. Good bloke though.

Reasons : after 135 they are finally in the premiership and are right up there with the big boys! gr8 first season for them!
