A gay guy once told me that the twang and the lisp and the effeminate body language is a separate thing from being gay and its really an attempt to be more "feminine" so that they would be attractive to other gay guys.

Both the speech and the they physical characteristics you are referring to are self acquired mannerisms.
Although it has been documented that some men that have acted more effeminate than others throughout history, it has also been documented that there have been homosexuals throughout history as well.
The feminine characteristics cannot be defined as 'natural' since males are born with a masculine instinct, and if this weren't the case, this type of behavior wold have manifested itself long ago in heterosexual males if it were a natural trait.
The behavior is practiced on a conscience level until it becomes second nature to the individual. To be acquired on an unconscious level, an individual would have to live in a large community where those around them spoke and acted in a similar manner, much like a southern drawl becomes natural over time without conscience thought when a person from another part of the country moves to the southern U.S.

You'll notice that the way most men walk all king of the jungle-like is actually socially-constructed and fake as hell. While it might seem more 'real' to you when a guy acts like that, it isn't...it's just what you're more used to.
He's probably not fitting gender norms which doesn't necessarily mean he's gay or not. The best way I think, is not worry about it. Because with all due to respect, how is it any of your business?
And btw gay people have all types of voices. Just like everybody else.

No; there are gay guys out there who dont carry themself like that at all. We like to work out in the gym, work on are cars, bikes, even drink beer and watch football. Just the only thing that makes us different from a stright guy is that we share are bed with a guy and not a woman. So yes there are gay men out there who dont act that way, we dont even have that Queeny voice as we call it.

Not all gay guys lisp... in fact many straight guys are mistaken for being gay that way. I've met deep-sounding gay guys who don't carry themselves about the way a stereotyped gay guy is projected by society.

Maybe for some on purpose & I don't know if they'd admit it! It doesn't really matter, though! It doesn't hurt anyone, right? I think there may be some guys that don't come across very verile & are Hetero. But then again there's not as fem looking/acting women who are Heter & some that look very girly that are Homo & Bi. I guess, you just can't safely judge a book by it's cover!

I know very few who do, and I've met straight men who "talk that way" as well. but, the majority of the time, this is simply a stereotype as the majority of gay men are not like that at all.

You don't know very many gay men. Not all gay men are campy, after all. Heck, not all straight men are butch! And those that are talk and act and carry themselves "that way" because that is how they are comfortable.

I think it is on purpose, like an accent. I know exactly what you mean. Some men are openly gay and don't have those mannerisms. I think it is something like an accent.
