of course, i mean a mentor is a person that shows a person the ropes and acts as a model for living. a parent should be the first choice as a mentor, if the parent is applicable.

Parents can be mentors but only if the child sees them/accepts them as mentor.
While a child picks up a lot of cues from parents and shapes its behaviour, a grown up boy/girl looks for a mentor outside 'home' environment. He/she may perceive parents to be driving their own agenda and consider them to be not 'neutral'. Hence ideally a mentor can be a school teacher, senior relative like uncle or even a neighbour. The point is that child has to believe in and accept a mentor !

sure why not ... though it may not be to their own kids, but then again there are many friends who talk as if their parents are their mentors (it just may come later than earlier in life when you realize it)

Of course. They are our first teachers. They taught us how to walk, eat, speak, stand and do everything else. They were the ones who first introduced us to a magnificent school called life. ü

What if they all came from the same faulty production lines?
Will they not be repeating the process to their own children in planet of apes.
Do we understand why everyone is at loss and blurr on what went wrong out there in planet of apes.
The children kick the butts of parents and teachers in planet of apes.
The parents and teachers kick the butts of the dirty old men in office in planet of apes.
So who is the source of blunders and slip-ups with human errors in planet of ape.?
Do we understand why those poor children were living in misery in planet of apes.
Do we understand what we are doing to our own children in making a monkey out of them with self prides. self lack of knowledge, self rudeness with self discrimination to our creator's universal gifts of life vital for their own survival and advancement of themselves in planet of apes.
