I am exaggerating of course, but I often find my plate so piled high with food that I lose my appetite. Yes, I know that I can take it home in a doggie bag,but sometimes I just want to eat there and not bother with the leftovers. It's no wonder that America is faced with an obesity problem. Am I the only one who feels this way.

Yes, I agree that there are some restaurants that leave you hungry and I don't like to feel cheated either but I think the "Too much Food" is more common. Isn't there a happy in between?

I totally agree with the fact that America has thousands of poor and homeless that could use the food that is thrown away daily, not only from restaurants but from family tables.

The Obesity problem lies in the fact that people do not know when to quite. When we feel the full feeling we need to quite, take home the rest or not worry about what is left on the plate.

The reason they do this is to make sure you are getting your monies worth. The prices are so high I'm sure they feel like they are robbing the people if they do not give enough food.

I would rather have a smaller price, and smaller amount of food than to see the food wasted when so many are starving.

For me, I am not really used to this amount they serve at the restaurant.. but . I think it is really worth. Once I visited US and they served me full plate of meal, and because I am not used taking left over..I just left the table and the waitress thought I don't really like the food. .until I moved and then later, whatever left I take it home.

when I was in Japan..some of the foreigners would complain they were being given a plate of food for a child.. if they eat out so they would rather bring their own lunch boxes than paying for the meal that is not really worth what they pay and go back home or work still hungry..
As some people don't eat big meal for 3 times a day..mostly when they eat out they make sure they were full so they won't bother to cook again or if they feel hungry.there something to look upon. and the more they remember the place is good for food and service, the more they go back.

Maybe..it depends on the person, the place and the foods they serve.
once the restaurant we used to go for breakfast served us big amount of food, then the cook resigned and new cook replaced,, as I compare the hamburger that used to be the half size of the plate is now to compare with the size of the tomato that was on the bun. We did not go back to the same place anymore..
I also agree with you that sometimes we worry about left overs but it is our choice to eat that later or throw it when we really don't need to..I have met lots of entertainers who eats lots to gain more energy but don't have problems of getting heavy ..bcoz they exercise a lot and stays late more at night.

yes, maybe they should consider to make a nutritious meal that worth it even we do eat more..healthy meal usually don't give them a choice to put lots on plates in every order.

just something to share..

You're not the only one that feels this way, I for one like getting what I pay for, If I pay for a $16 meal and get what looks like a portion for my 6 year old, I'm not full plus it's a waste of money.

Also.. Diner in general have been around longer than forever. Most diners still belive in filling people up.
Way back in the day Coal miners and labor workers used to eat at diners with what little money they had, so the diners would stack thier plates high.
Diners still belive that a full tummy is a happy one. I'd rather leave with food, then still feeling hungry.
I think it's nice.

I think its great. You go to a dinner and you get what you pay for. I have gone to some places and pay alot for very little food. I like knowing that I'm gonna get a heaping pile of food. Whether you eat it all or just a little thats up to you.

I see what your saying however. Do I think portions are a majority of obesity problems, yes. However there are much more reasons for that.

I believe that it is a marketing tactic, they know that some of their customers will be taking food home to give to other people, depending on whether the food is well received by others will determine whether the customer will come back with friends to eat at this particular restaurant.

I like having leftovers. Sometimes it tastes even better the next day!

Sadly some restaurants think you will not come back unless they give you huge portions.
