If you have an optical mouse it is possible that it is picking up reflections from the surface it rests on. This is especially likely if you have a desk with a highly reflective surface or if your desk has closely spaced horizontal or vertical patterns, such as a fine wood grain or a decorative striped pattern.

Try using a mouse pad if you don't already and see if you still have the problem.

This really freaked me out the first time it happened after I switched from a standard ball mouse to an optical one.

My cursor sometimes decides to move by itself too, But I don't think someone is controlling my computer remotely!!

Why would anyone do that, I am not head of the CIA!

that is a possibility but you should also see the computer executing certain functions like opening folders, copying, moving, deleting stuff. the other obvious option is that your mouse is dead. one of its right or left clicks is stuck causing the cursor to continully move.try putting another mouse or testing your mouse on another P C . advice afterwards

Check the sensitivity of your mouse movement. You may have it so sensitive that just a minor bump of the desk with your leg or hand can cause the pointer to jump around.
