No, this is not true. This is an old wives tale, until people found that children were in fact floating in amniotic fluid it was believed that a person could drown their unborn by taking a bath. A little silly to hear today though, this is what the belief was based on.
However, if your cervix is slightly open it is better not to because an infection could develop due to the germs and things in the water being able to get into the woman.
It is also important to have sticky pads or a bath mat in the tub to help prevent slipping, whether shower or bath.

Wow, I wouldn't have made it through pregnancy without warm baths. I think perhaps someone was confused with hot tubs, which shouldn't be used during any pregnancy. As long as it's warm, not scalding steaming hot all is fine!
One of the best two books to get for pregnancy are:
What to expect when expecting & The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy.
During normal office hours don't hesitate to ask your doctors nurses a question. And if your really worried about how your feeling or something your experiencing call anytime. Get a note pad and write down questions that can wait until your next doctors appointment. Often once you get there hear the heart beat of discuss other things it's easy to forget!
Congratulations!

Who told you that? I've carried three pregnancies to term, and I've never heard that before! There are times, during pregnancy, when you shouldn't bathe though. If your membranes rupture, you shouldn't take a bath. I had pre eclampsia with my first, and my doctor suggested showers instead of baths. Kept me from soaking in a hot tub, and raising my blood pressure any further. WebMD.com actually suggests baths to help ease some of the discomforts of pregnancy. Swimming is also EXCELLENT exercise for a Mom to be!

Take a bath....the danger is in allowing your body temperature to go above 102. Which is hard to do in a bath since the water begins cooling immediatly and you are never completely submerged. Hot tubs are out.

Hey honey - NO NO NO
Put your butt in that bath , lay back and relax . . . Enjoy and don't worry about it.
I spent most of my pregnancy in the bath as it not only felt good but helped with my back pain etc.
Go for it!!!! Even put in some bubbles if you like.

When i was 7 months preg, my doctor told me not to take baths, he said it could cause an infection. Ask your doctor, i dont see any diffrent than getting in swimming pools and preg people do that.

Public spa baths and saunas are the concern, not your home bath.
