What symbolism does this have? or is the same as a living totem animal in your life?

I'd love an in-depth answer

In my case, it was the very first time I had met my Totem face-to-face....

There is something that I need to explain first, however.
The animal that you see is a 'representation of your Totem' just as much as your Totem is representation of that animal.

That being said, you are seeing a 'representation' of your Totem in front of you. The symbology of you seeing your Totem's representative dead or dying in front of you may or may not carry with it meaning.

In my case, 'Shark' is my Totem.
When I surfaced after a long dive in the Pacific and was picked up by a nearby boat, I saw my Totem face-to-face. I had been spear-fishing for my lunch and was headed back to the beach to cook up my catch. I had several fish on the end of a 25 foot 'catch-rope' trailing behind me the entire time.

An 18 foot Tigershark was gaffed up to the side of the boat dying.
For me the message still rings clearly in my head.....

"Little Brother, I die today instead of you"

I has been said that Sharks don't blink except to open their jaws for the strike. I was in shock at seeing such a HUGE Shark within five feet of me..... but I swear I heard it in my mind, and I will never forget seeing the eyes and mouth of this magnificent creature.

I still wear a Sharks Tooth around my neck to this day. The tooth is an ancient Megalodon Sharks tooth about 400,000 years old. It is a constant reminder of my Totem. I hope that when my time comes, I will face it as stoically as my Totem did that day in Pacific Ocean.

Did you see it in, real life, a dream, vision, etc.
Way to many details left out to be able to give you a proper reply.

Life is also a cycle. NOT every sighing of a Totem carries a message.....UNLESS you have a very unusual totem animal.

It means it's dead. We all die eventually.

Sorry, that is my in depth answer.
