My wardrobe door received a "knock" and the door and hinges came off pulling the screws out. Is there anything I can use to fill up the enlarged holes that can be screwed through again?

If you fill up the holes with match stick or toothpick, it's best to put some glue in the holes first. Leave it to dry properly and then trim the pieces to the surface. If you want to make a better job, move the hing either up or down. It will be good as new, well done Ginger, good suggestion.

Break up a toothpick and pack the pieces into the enlarged holes, 2 or 3 pieces should do it and make sure you break them off flush to the surface.
If the holes look extra large, add a couple more pieces.
Now you can put everything back.
If you use the wood putty, you will need to drill a tiny hole in the middle to put the screws back and the putty must be completely dry. Good luck ! ! !

You can put rawl plugs in to fill the gap then screw the door back into place. Check the sizes first and then ask at your local DIY store for suitable products to use. Do not be put off from fixing it yourself most jobs can be done if you just take a little time. Get someone to help support the door while you do the job.

Here's the easy fix.Go to the hardware store and get yourself some wood dowelling ,slightly smaller or as tight as you can put into the old screw holes with wood glue. Drill a small pilot hole in the dowelling ,and replace the screws into the door hinges. Done ,like new!

If the holes are intact but a little large for the screws try putting a sliver of match stick in the hole for the screw to grip.

Clean the holes and fill with some good quality wood filler, you can get this from any good diy shop. Then leave to set.
Then drill pilot holes and refit the hinges. Easy.
Good luck

Ginger, you don't know what your talking about. Leave this to the boys. for a proper job I'd go with filler, drill a hole in it slightly smaller than the width of your screw and good as new.

My grandmother would put toothpicks or wooden matches in enlarged holes to fill the hole. Screws will hold and your door will stay put.
