N Power owe me quite a bit of money( £178 on july the 4th i dont know how much now ) for overpayment on electricity. Its a token meter some of it is from what they were stopping for debt they said i had ,but then admited it was a mistake .and some because the meter is dodgy and a lot of the tokens don`t work
iv`e been phoning them since july but they`ve done nothing .so last week i went to C.A.B but they told the woman who rang them for me ,debt is not being taken (the meter shows it is and how much )but now they have said they are changeing the meter on friday .It`s the only proof i have got apart from the statement from july which they refuse to accept as proof .they must owe me about £400 by now .what do i do .?i can`t afford to write the money off

Before they change the meter, take a note of everything it says including the serial number and anything written on labels attached to it. Get someone a court would regard as responsible to check what you have written down.
Write a LETTER to Customer Relations, npower, PO Box 97, Peterlee, SR8 9AP. (Keep a copy) Head your letter COMPLAINT and quote your account number and the number of the old meter.

Set out in date order everything that has happened. Tell them that you believe they owe you £400 and you want it refunded within 14 days. Tell them that if you do not receive a satisfactory response, you will complain to the Energy Supply Ombudsman and that you are also prepared to take your complaint to the County Court. Finish your letter by saying that you expect a written reply and that you will not regard any telephoned statements as a satisfactory treatment of your complaint.

Get hold of a digi camera and take photos of each screen that then gives you proof of the debt and how much is being taken. The statement has to be proof I cannot understand how they can say that when it's a document sent by them.Don't let it go,they did this to me too,I was owed about the same amount.I also called the police who sent out an officer to witness the picture taking and to take a statement detailing everything I had said.I did finally get my money back.So hang in there it's your money don't forget that.

Get energy watch to take up the case, my flatmate and i had a massive row with n power when they sent us a bill saying we owed them 400 pounds from three years ago cos they had got their meter reading wrong. energy watch kicked their **** for us and negotitated the figure down so we only had to pay £50

I used to be a customer of Npower and after a dispute lasting 18 months I went to another supplier.

The only way we could get Npower to listen to us was to go to the industry regulator and make a complaint.

We did this with Npower and they soon changed their tune.
