I wouldn't. But then again, test it. I had frogs that ate fish, including my algea eater, but I can't remember if my beta did or not. He did eat his mate though.

If your tank is big enough (min. 10 gallons) you can put a bristlenose pleco in with a betta, and they'll be fine. In a smaller tank, get either otocinclus catfish, OR a siamese algae eater. Chinese algae eaters don't do a good job of eating algae plus they get big and mean as they grow older so make sure you're getting a true SAE.

Bettas can be community fish but have to be monitored. They are not the nicest folks on the planet. They come from the silt in the Nile river basin and are accustomed to having their own world and other sand/silt parts they thrive in. They are known as Siamese fighting fish. I would be more concerned with a Chinese algae eater attacking him than the other. I would suggest a plecostomus because they typically don't get attacked due to their armor like skin-Good Luck

I wouldn't. depsite the fact that they get fairly big (and when they get big they tend to stop eating much algee and just annoy other fish) and you'll need a big tank for them, they tend to eat the betta's delecate tail and fins.

with an algae eater you should be able to. But if you see him trying to nip at the algae eater then remove him.

SOME BETTAS CAN LIVE WITH ANY FISH. YOU CAN TEST THEM AND IF YOU SEE FIGHTING TAKE THEM APART RIGHT AWAY.
