I just got Hermit crabs and they just dig holes and sleep. Is this normal?

Hermit crabs are actually pretty hard to take care of. I was looking into getting some as pets but decided they were too much work for me at this time.
Mostly because you have to keep their humidity and temp right all the time or they an just die.
They are also nocturnal animals so they might just be digging holes and sleeping in the day but once night comes they will crawl and climb aroudn looking for food and just mucking around.

My bf got a hermit crab (for himself) he and his friend couldnt stop going on and on about it -I was like "WHATEVER". Well, as soon as they were over him I became completely enamoured w/ him. He would watch me from the tank and wave at me w/ his little hand claws-(i swear) I would handfeed him FIRST before the other fish to let him know he was KING CRAB, I named him simply "crab" and just thought he was the neatest thing ever.People began to think I was a little "off" but, I truly cared for crab. It got to the point where people wouldnt take me seriously and would laugh-and dont talk about him or I would get a 5150. He had 3 cars (shells) he would pick from and switch around. He had a porsche -suv-and a cadi.He got sucked up into the filter and my bf kept telling me he was ok and just "hiding"-then to my horror I saw my bf and his friend trying to pry my beautiful "crab" out of the filter and ever since then -I realized how a person can have a close and loving relationship w/ any of god's creatures!

yes this is normail i have 4 crabs for over a year now cuz there nocturnal they dont come out during the day much so take them out of there cages and put them into a cardboard box then they will walk around

i have 4 hermit crabs when i was a kid...yep it's pretty normal for me cuz i always see them doing that...for me the best way to keep your crab is to regulate the water...since they're salt-water creatures..you have to make sure you add at least 2 teaspoon of salt on the water...it depends on the size of the water... and also feed them fruits...i usually feed them banana..and those that are brought in stores... when i was young hermit crabs are really popular in my school because we use them in competitions like racing or fighting with each own crab to see which is the strongest...like in a gladiator match..something like that...so to make sure my crabs are in good shape..i take them out and place them in the floor and make them move around( don't place them in the sofa...my crab died because he fell down and broke his shell...i haven't got any replacement so he died) oh yeah..also have many shells because they tend to change shells if they grow bigger....
