I keeping reading that the crime is bad in Phoenix. I want to move there next year. Now I am from the metro area of Detroit which is the # 2 city with the highest crime. I want to know is it really that bad in Phoenix compared to Detroit?

As bad as Detroit?! I haven't been to Detroit, but I certainly wouldn't think so! There is quite a lot of property crimes in Phoenix - car theft, burglary, etc. but not a lot of violent crime unless you live in south Phoenix or parts of Glendale, where there is gang activity.

If you live in east or north Phoenix or Scottsdale or Tempe - you should be fine!

Quite frankly "crime" actually depends upon where you live and what you define as crime! There are now over 2.5 million people living in the Phoenix area (city and suburban areas),. Burglaries are frequent, as are car thefts and in certain areas some serious crimes do occur. The metro Phoenix area does Not have the serious crime rate (murder, gangs & rape etc) like Detroit, but due to the size of this area and it's a fast growing large metropolitan area the other types of crimes continue at a high level. This is not like a rough LA or NYC Yet...

I'm a young professional living in Downtown Phoenix and haven't encountered any crime there at least. I'm sure its around but I'm safe about locking the doors, keeping my car in a locked yard, and not walking around by myself at night. Before that, I was at ASU over in Tempe and walked around those neighborhoods quite a bit at night to get to my car after school and never had a problem. You just have to be aware of where you are and what you are doing. Crime happens everywhere and I know bad things do go down in Phoenix. I've heard stories but nothing has ever really hit too close to home with me (thank god!).

In any city you'll locate crime and drug use when you're looking. even with the undeniable fact that, Phoenix ought to nicely be a good city to vist and a chilled position to stay. when you're secure, you need to no longer have any complications in any respect and the in problem-free words position you'll listen about drugs and crime will be on the information. there are certain places contained in the city that are safer to stay than others and also you need to attempt to stumble on a effective community to stay in. good luck and do not be disturbed too a lot!

my friend rides his bike in phoenix.
eco-friendly, right?
think again. maybe environmentally..
once he was hit in the head with a beer bottle
and another time shot in the head with what at the time he thought was a sling-shot or a bb gun but found a pointed-pellet embedded in the back of his head days later inside the scab. another time while hw was waiting on the bus, a young woman was egged.. freaks and weirdos and rich young kids. crime is going to be much more populated when you get more and more people in a viscinity like this. it's probably no more or less than any town that size, only muiltiplied to consider the mass increse in population in phoenix and the surrounding areas.

what the crime really is and what they "say" it is are probably not even close.

The thing you don't want to do is MOVE to PHOENIX!

The people here suck really bad. They have THREE faces and the last one that you see will always be the real one...the one that steals all of your stuff!

The crime rate here is the highest producing income for the budget in Arizona and the saying is "arrive on vacation....leave on probation". Unless your ready to make your money available to the Sheriff and get stuck here (cuz they don't let go of you they just want your money) I would highly recommend...........Missouri or even Colorado.

............think about it...........and stay home!
