Update: OK, sorry, i have looked at your question and see it in a different light now (just). It wasn't clear. Yes the people who answer are often overly critical of American culture, for little reason that stands up in reality - except judging them on a few stereotypes.

I know that England is a fine city in the country of Europe and it has a lovely president goes by the name of Queen Elizabeth.

as u may've guessed, im not british either!!
im south african...but i think america is the coolest place on earth (i haven't bin there personally, but i've heard stories!)
New york rocks and so does hollywood and L.A.
of course, i've neva put one foot in america coz everyone else in my family hates it, but i wear i love NY tshirts proudly and i tell everyone how great it is and right now, im actually wearing a tee that says new york originals with the american flag and ya,

we try. lord knows we try. but we have a hard time learning other languages because europe has us beat because of their close proximity to one another. we have enclaves where we could learn something, immersed in those places. but it seems to me the french are more concerned with ceremony, and the same bloody thing would be said to them in english if we could tell them fluently in french. we would tell all of you: get rid of your socialism, become capitalists, and realize you all have an internal problem with muslim extremism, and for god's sake, you publish a cartoon you got firebombs and death threats breathing down your back. and also... is europe really a good place to raise a child? my god, your european women are obsessed about us, i find that amazing. especially swedish women! and you've got muslim men raping swedish women? why are they there? we are the land of opportunity, but... hopefully not the opportunity to destory itself.. we've got unions and lawyers and crap ruining us. we haven't built our missile defense shield yet. clinton gave the chinese advanced technology and now we're worried about the chinese becoming a superpower to contend with? we are angry and fed up with iraq, and our men in charge won't realize that iraq was a frankenstein put together, to begin with. and also, saddam had a Calu-tron in early 90s, the un destroyed it after the gulf war. and also, alqaeda is still in western iraq. they are there. it is the chicken and the egg thing, but al queda is there, in iraq. they are there!
