No one thinks we evolved from apes/monkeys. No one has ever thought that. The theory is that human beings and apes and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor. The old idea that Creationists may have evolved from apes or monkeys is now rejected by nearly all scientists.

'If we evolved from Apes"....... You have a good point there, and a very relevant Question.... ? One that's been pondered though out history..., And in a personal way , how we become to 'know our self's.' however..I feel the Answer lies with in the Question its self! A monkey 'is ' a monkey' , An ape 'is' ,just what He is .An Ape! If people would not believe this statement;,, then It would seem likely ,that the missing links would have been something as 'tribe" in...... countless volumes on this debates on this subject.......
In know in my heart of hearts that we possess a spiritual being. and a higher ,self that's involved here!l so, I guess what I 'm trying to get across is... Why Do you worry about such tings.......If your theory held water .wouldn't it would be likely ,that the missing links would have been found ...
. And yes, Humans do & have evolved....
except...... WEll !!.................. SO go & evolve D*^%T!!!!!!!

not much help here!
Ms. Kate

We did not evolve from apes/monkeys we had a common ancestor. This is one explanation of why Chimpanzees and Humans share 98% of genetic material, and many behaviours prevoiusly thought to be unique to us - like lying.

Lying is quite a complex behavior when you realise it is dependant on you empathising with the other person and deciding what they expect and how you can benefit from their expectation.

I think a better question is why are Humans the only species with no other varients. Homo sapians sapians, are alone (colour variations are not indicative of different species). Cats have Lions, Tigers, Wild Cats.

All other animals have at least one other species but we are truly alone. (Please do correct me if I'm wrong!)

We have evolved yet we still retain our reptilian cortex, which is the part of the brain that controls our response system. This is why our reaction to certain situations are ape like. Such as meeting a hot woman or man we most likely tend to react like apes. or when we are frightened we screech like monkeys. And if we are put in a situation we don't feel comfortable in we shrug our shoulders & accept if or lash out in viloient monkey rage.

Would you really call that evolving. If you look at behavior, monkeys and apes aren't as destructive as humans. Of course on the flip side, they don't seem to be blessed with a spirit.

I don't believe that we evolved from Apes/Monkeys.Since your question starts with a if, i suppose this could be an answer as well.

We are a type of ape, there are other types of apes. all dogs have wolves as an ancestor, wolves are still here, so are great danes and staffordshire terriers.
We share an ancestor with apes. That ancestor is now extinct, as are many of the cousins we share with apes.
Imagine it as a family tree, Your great-great-great-great grandmother may be gone but her decendants survive, ie you. You are probably very different from her other sixth generation decendants, but they are here as well. Your question is, although common, misleading and confused, I mean that as no insult. There are lots of these kinds of questions on here, a failing in the education system I think, and people who genuinely ask inquiring questions to fill in gaps in their knowledge are often scorned.

God said I made man
Man said (Charles Darwin) monkeys evolve into man.

Now we have not found the SEMI-MONKEY or SEMI-MAN stage any where even after millions of escavations and billions of dollars spent from the tax payers money, still the LINK-MONKEY-MAN not found neither skeleton or anything else.

We must demand damages from all the publishing houses who dared to write we have evolved from monkeys, this theory has given sleepless nights to MEN of GOD and people (big volume) a tortured soul, many have suffered mental anxiety and emotional damages, many family units were broken and lot of human suffering was caused because of this un-proven theory's publication and advertisement.

we demand damages to be paid and from the money claimed in damages , this money should be used in poverty alleviation all over the world specially the third world. As we from the third world suffered the MALICE of this theory, western world treated us like APES AND MONEKEYS. We demand damages. Also check out my writings on :

Evolution has not stopped. It is just very, very slow. Give it another 10 million years then look around again and see if you need to ask the same question.

I think that as some of us progressed as humans or apes, some people grow and change and some do not.
