The 18th Amendment, prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the import or transport of such, was later repealed.

It's interesting to note that the law didn't forbid possession of alcohol, consuming it, or even purchasing it---when the speakeasies were raided, the customers were released because, technically, they weren't violating the Volstead Act.

im not sure of the number offhand but it was the one which prohibited the sale of alcohol
