It could be bad ram.

It makes a short... what?!

if you put some ram in the motherboard and for whatever reason it isn't working, its 1 of 2 things...

Either you havn't inserted the ram completely correctly

or you have bought the wrong ram for your motherboard...

The ONLY way you're going to get a spark from inserting RAM or anything else in your board is if you have power on.
And the only way you're going to successfully insert RAM is if it fits, which means it's the proper config.
If you have no power to the mobo (it's unplugged) and you're getting a short, you have a voltage leak. I'd then take it to a shop.

your question is bit confusing.

even though i can tellif there is a shot circuit on the MB then your board is no longer working and also the ram which would have got it
