Because of their fakeness.
Dolls are made to look like us, but are not really human.
Clowns in the case of real humans dressed up like clowns, are humans, but disguised to look less human, less 'natural'.
This is totally a theory I just pulled out of the air :)

I think it`s the same case like a person who is always smiling when in public, but when he or she comes home is the sadest person in the world and has killing tendencies as well.
Dolls and clowns depict those people who are hidding the truth about themselves behind a smile. That is why we often hear in the news serial killers that were not suspicious because they smiled to everyone in the neighbourhood!
And the neighbours whould say: "How was I supposed to know he would commit such a crime? He was a very quiet boy who was always smiling..."

Oh....Chuckie(The action picture, no longer the Gangster Rat :]) scared me a lot....for the subsequent month after seeing it i replaced into afraid to be on my own...That action picture's too creepy....haha, after that, i ended gazing scary video clips. i have in no way considered a scary action picture when you consider that then, which replaced into at the same time as i replaced into round 7 or 8. i wager it truly is purely the concept a doll or something that you've at your residence and without caution change into so scary. it truly is sorta like something that you in no way would've been fearful of is without caution the scariest element contained in the international. It makes you somewhat alert and paranoid and also you imagine that virtually all people and something can attack you. Creepy....

I guess is because of their eyes and their smiles. Sometimes are mental thinking that make you think that the dolls and clowns actually changed their expressions or moved, because you are afraid. Some things can't be explained, they maybe spiritural.

John Wayne Gacey ... now there's a Clown and what a
"Clown Face" he used ... it was screaming ...
"Hey Look At Me I am A Serial Killer"!!!
The Clown is a metaphor for tragedy and comedy
being to radical and often grotesque manifestations of the same emotion.

I think it is because we know the painted face hides the real person, I also think a number of horror films are the main reason...I know it is for me!

i think it is because the faces they have are painted and thus leaving their intentions unpredictable..with regular ppl you can see facial expression thus giving you some idea as to what they are thinking...but when its painted on..you have no clue...
