Why don't Americans like Australia more than they do their own country when Australia better fits the description as being the land of the free?

Land of the free? LOL!

Two words: gun control.

There are many people in USA who want to take away or severely restrict the people's right to own guns, but they ahven't yet succeeded.

In Australia, your gun control nuts have won alot more ground. I actually wanted to become either an Australian or a New Zealander, until I found out what was up with guns in those countries.

Be well.

Patriotism is why America is a republic today - not opportunity. Do you think the homeless people in America give a damn about the US being the 'land of the free'? Go to New Orleans to understand my point. Or how about the grieving mother from Missouri whose son got blown up last month in Iraq? You think she thinks the US is the 'land of the free"?

The Star-Spangled Banner is a more poetic and romantic reason to go to war than Ned Kelly, Crocodile Dundee or a boxing kangaroo.

Most Americans would not even know where the hell Australia is on a globe of the world if you asked them to point it out. Ask an American what the capital of Australia is, most of them say "Sydney". They've never even heard of Canberra. They don't give a heck about Australia. Don't flatter yourself!

why would they? Australia is no freer than the US! I'm Canadian by the way, and neither are we. However, we both have better beer than the US, and that would be a reason for them to switch!

firstly, australia is not yet a republic, we are still tied to the monarcy of england. but maybe the ties to the us are stronger as our pathetic government blindly follows dubya especially on iraq. so how free is australia really????
