What exactly does that mean? I know it's from a song, but can't remember who sings it or the name? For some reason I keep thinking Steely Dan but don't think it's them.

So I guess this is a 3 part question; what does the line mean, the title of the song and artist?

"Emotion" by Samantha Sang written by The Bee Gees. Later recorded by the Bee Gees themselves and later recorded by Destiny's Child. You probably think it's Steely Dan 'cause of the tight harmonies. "Lost in the song" is a sensory image describing a feeling of... you guessed it an emotion, desperation that comes from uncertainty to be percise (at least in the song) Hope I helped :) If it's not, well I hope you like the song.

Now I told you so you 'oughta know
Take some time for our feelings to grow
You're so close now I can't let you go
And I can't let go

(Chorus) With you I'm not shy
To show the way I feel
With you I'm on trial
My secrets to reveal
You are a magnet
I am steel

I can't hope that I'll hold you for long
You're a woman who's lost in your song
But the love I feel is so strong
It can't be wrong

(Chorus 2x)

You are a magnet
I am steel
You are magnet
I am steel

You are a magnet
I am steel (Repeat 5x)

I think that line means that he is interested in her but she isn't aware of it because she's in her own world, living her life.
He wants to be with her but she isn't even aware that he's interested in her. The song is called Magnet and Steel and it's by
Walter Egan.

Magnet and Steel

Ooh, ooh, ah
Now, I told you so you ought to know (ooh, ooh,ah)
It takes some time for a feeling to grow (ooh, ooh,ah)
You're so close now I can't let you go (ooh, ooh,ah)
And I can't let go
With you I'm not shy to show the way I feel
With you I might try my secrets to reveal
For you are a magnet and I am steel

I can't hope that I'll hold you for long (ooh, ooh,ah)
You're a woman who's lost in your song (ooh,ooh,ah)
But the love that I feel is so strong (ooh, ooh,ah)
And it can't be wrong
With you I'm not shy to show the way I feel
With you I might try my secrets to reveal
For you are a magnet and I am steel

[break]

With you I'm not shy to show the way I feel
With you I might try my secrets to reveal
For you are a magnet and I am steel
For you are a magnet and I am steel
For you are a magnet and I am steel

I think I am wrong after all!

Drift Away
DOBIE GRAY
(Mentor Williams)

Day after day I'm more confused
So I look for the light in the pouring rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
I'm feelin' the strain, ain't it a shame

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Beginning to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
I'm countin' on you to carry me through

And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue
The guitar's comin' through to soothe me
Thanks for the joy that you've given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You help me along makin' me strong

i dont know who sings or its name, but it means that the woman is so lost in her song that she's listening to, that nothing else matters. nothing interupt her while she's so into listening to the song.
