I've heard some people say they've done a little bit of everything, and some who say they lived clean healthy lives. Aside from genetics what do you think are some ways to prolong your life?

Why would there be a hole in the crematorium? This joke went over my head. The secret to living a long life, would be to avoid any accidents, and diseases all of ones' life. For we can putter along through life, and then be stricken with life altering body restrictions, that change our way of living forever. It happened to me, and it happens to many. Just in our family, diseases have changed my daughter and grand- son, so they no longer live a normal life. Same with my husband, who suddenly has major mobility problems. And he can't do what he used to do. None of us can predict what we will do years from now, with the assumption we will be the same then as we are today. Just when you think you've got it made in life, something totally un prepared for happens to take it all away. Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm sure genetics have a lot to do with it, but apart from that I'm sure that a healthy lifestyle helps. Avoiding stress as much as possible, eating healthy (getting right nutrition and avoiding food that is full of chemicals), not smoking or drinking, living in a place where there is relatively little pollution, getting enough exercise without overdoing it either... those are all things that are likely to contribute to a longer life.

The pre occupation of prolonging life speaks of the fear of death. That passage is inevitable so there's no need to court it
Simply lead the life you love you'll be be so content that life is all you'll know and death wil be but a new beginning.Rather than trying to find ways of cramming more years into our existence I think we'd be better off extracting the marrow from every moment
It's all about quality. A year full of the life you love is greater than a decade of sorrow

Fasting: It helps to cleanse the body but also gives you body rest.

If you cleanse your body and have a good diet then you can live an ageless life.

Fasting builds up your Vital Power/Force. I enlightens your mind and helps you to think clearly. Fasting allows you to depend soley on your body. We try to do a lot of work for the body that the body can do on its on. Just think if you get cut on the hand in time you wound will heal my itself, it is my belief that by fasting you can heal many ailments as well. All animals fast, especially when they are sick. At times when we are sick we don't have a need to eat, that is our body telling us to rest and allow it to get the foriegn substances out of our system that is causing the upset. But we have become a nation of people so dead set on eating that we feel like if we don't eat for a day or two we will die.

We eat because it is time to eat, not because I body tells us to eat, or more importantly because we have "worked" for our food.

In know way to to believe fasting is a cure for diseases, but if used as a preventive measure then you might not have to worry about certain diseases.

Also as important as fasting is, fresh air, correct breathing, exercise, good posture, the right diet, water, rest.

To prolong your life you have to preserve your body, fasting is a great way of doing that.

There are two things:

your diet. eat many kind of food that would act as ingredients for your body's regenerations, such as vegetables, and many natural foods. When you grow older, your body start to naturally denaturate. The foods will replace what's unusable and make it usable again. Don't touch fast foods or cigarettes!

Secondly, Try not to have internal problems, such as stress and depression. It is "corrosive" for your brain.

The answers are cliche, but it is whats true.

I don't feel like we really have the power to determine how long we live. It's just not up to us, when we are ready to go we will. Of course you should take care of yourself as long as you are here.
