There are those individuals that are intelligent but cannot come to terms with this world, or agree with it. Soon psychological isolation may develop and the person may become somewhat erratic or unstable in its behaviour (which is ascertained by the person's entourage mostly in terms of 'acceptable' or 'normal' social behaviour).

Oh, it's so true -- and I'm talking as an unstable, intelligent woman! Maybe there's too much brain chemistry sloshing around in there, or the connections that lead to brilliant insights also disconnect at the emotional level.

I'm given to understand many intelligent men are also unstable too.

However, an intelligent woman can sometimes be persuaded to get help and find coping mechanisms. Because being unstable is no fun for anyone -- even the shaky-quaky one.

If you find one who really makes your world light up, it might be worth the effort. But otherwise, I hate to say it, a cute, kind of dumb but very reliable girl (or boy) is a treasure and a rock.

(-: How are you on the instability scale?

hi..
answer to your question may depend on how many women you had met.
if answe is less than 5 .. then it might well be a coincidence.
if answer is more than that then you need an answer.

for the second part i can only guess... may be their brains work fast and are very active people so when they find something is wrong they immediatly change decision without wasting time.. this i found in males also. i dnt think there is much difference between intelligent brain of a women and a man. its just the pratice or the frequency of use which makes it sharper.

its like a computer palying chess- when it find that some move is wrong - it changes it move- may be we find it as unstable.
but it only thinks of survival.

thank you

It comes from thinking too much. All the intelligent women I know, myself included, do not have an "off" switch for thought as many men seem to have. Constant thoughts, speculations, and an inability to brush off responsibility (their own as well as the responsibilities of those they care about) can put a lot of pressure on a girl. If a lady in your life seems to be feeling unstable, and you care enough about her to want to help even her out a little, do something nice for her that relieves some of the pressure.

It would be fantastic if women had the ability to turn off the constant thoughts, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. (If any woman knows a trick to it, I really would love to be corrected here.) A lot of times stability comes with maturity and learning how to deal with the pressure. Some women learn it, others don't.

Some of it may depend on if they come from a dysfunctional family. A lot of times if people grow up in a alcoholic environment or abusive environment they had to grow up pretty quickly and did not have a "normal" childhood where they were free to grow up and mature like someone from a more stable environment They may have felt they had to earn love and acceptance so they studied hard and got good grades to prove their worth. They may or may not know they are unstable. I'm 46 years old and did not realize I did not grow up in a normal household until I was in my 30's. I still have a lot to over come, but I'm getting there. (I've been considered "intelligent") The thing that I wonder now about is if I had been nutured more as a child with the "smarts" I have, how much more intelligent could I have been? hmmm

The men here are in denial. They are the ones who are oblivious to the world that they could not stand intelligent women. A woman's intellect is way beyond comprehension to men that it makes them so dizzy, they think the woman is unstable. Meanwhile, it was the man all along.

Because instability leads to increase in brain function making them smarter. Or because unstable women were very stable in their childhood and did well in school. but when they were introduced to the real world they became unstable because they could not handle life.

They probably just talk intelligent or they wouldnt be unstable. Maybe they have an art @ their deception.

Maybe a high state of intelligence leads to a flexibility of the mind which could be construed as "instability?"

because when they are intelligent they are thinking all the time which in turn makes them think into things too much which makes them unstable
