Linda Davidson played punk Mary Smith in Eastenders, and She had a baby named Annie, and had an on-off relationship with Rod Norman, she developed and toned down her image after being helped to learn to read by Andy O'Brien, she was also estranged from her mother and father and her dad Chris Smith wanted them back in the family.
Melanie Clark Pullen played Mary Flaherty not Mary Smith and was the one rescued by her auntie Pauline

It was Linda Davidson, she was actually married to mehmet the taxi cab driving owner of Ian beales cafe. I seem to remember she left with fellow punk scruff,joe. Back in the good old days.

She was played by Melanie Clark Pullen. I like that show, when I first started watching it I used to think, wow they really dress differently over there, not realizing it was filmed in the 80's! (Smacks myself in head and says d'oh!)
