in reality that he does no longer propose some thing. it really is a quote of his mom's that he pulls out everytime someone asks him if he's in truth stupid. in case you imagine about it, his moves communicate louder than his words, and it really is demanding to call a guy stupid who's that wealthy, a CMA recipient, and all american football participant, and a ping pong champion. He does rather reliable for himself.

Basically, it means the same as 'you can't judge a book by it's cover'. i.e. it doesn't matter if you LOOK stupid or not, the important thing is whether you ARE stupid, and even normal-looking people can BE stupid!

It's inspired by the phrase 'handsome is as handsome does.' That means that it doesn't matter what you look like on the OUTSIDE - it's the way you BEHAVE that shows your true self!

The same thing applies to stupid as well as handsome - after all, even handsome people can behave stupidly, and that's more important than the way they look - and even stupid looking people can behave in a way that's admirable / intelligent etc.

It means that one generally acts according to who they are.

What I hate is that that line and "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get" are
NOT in the book Forrest Gump by Winston Groom. The real line is, "Being a moron is no box of chocolates."

It is a truly fantastic book and very, very funny, but the movie is pure Hollywood GARBAGE!

The movie is NOTHING like the book. Jenny doesn't have AIDS, Bubba is white, he does run (but not across America, he plays football, and goes to Vietnam, but he is a champion ping-pong player, musician, chess champion, astronaut, and his best friend is a male orangutan named Sue.

Sorry for rambling, but it's one of my favorite books.
