refused to send coffee to the marines overseas because "they don't support the war or anyone involved in it? I say spend your money elsewhere.

As Mark Twain said there are two ways for telling a lie. The first is to make the story so outragous because no one would be stupid enough to think people would believe it, so it must be true. The other is to tell the truth but not tell all the story.

This is a case of the latter.

Don't believe everything you read in a an email. Especially if it begins with "Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw:" Research before you go around saying "Starbucks hates the troops!" Basically, the guy did exactly what you did, he heard something, didn't research it, and ran around telling everyone he knew that Starbucks was out to get them. Remember. If you read it in an email forward, the odds are pretty good (I'd say 90%) it's false.

Opps! Looks like a good joke to me. I laffed out loud when I saw the '*****" where 'bucks' belongs. Face it, 'Starphuques' IS funny soundin'! Thanks for the laffs! There's one comming to our remote town & we are excited to finally have a chance for an expensive yuppie coffee!

Unless you have specific documentation about a rumor like this, you shouldn't be spreading it. If it isn't true, and all indications are that it isn't, the company has every right to go after you and people like you who are trying to inflict economic harm by willfully spreading lies. Try being sensible and responsible.
