Caffeine, exercise, video games... anything that raises your heart rate, will keep you awake. Eating before sleep will keep you awake.
Thinking about matters, or even being positively excited about something- will keep you awake. Basically, sleep is delicate. One thing that will HELP sleep is strong alcohol, but if it is competing with caffeine, caffeine will win.
Oh, and if you use the bed to sit on or spend time on it while not asleep, the mind gets used to being awake in that area of the room, and you will have difficulty falling asleep there.

Watch a movie while lying on your back! That always puts me to sleep! But make sure the movie is kinda boring!

Nope.... all ya gotta do to fall asleep is order a movie on Pay Per View that you REALLY REALLY want to see. Never fails... when there is nothing but garbage on.... you're awake. The second something you want to watch comes on.... BLAM! Out like a light!

well,what kind of music are you listening to? are the lights dim where u are at right now? maybe if the music is too fast and has any words in it it might distract you. i know it does for me. it has to be straight music and no lyrics for me.

I normally work night shift, but I am off tonight. Can't sleep normally even on nights off. I will conk out about 5AM.

or try playing lullabye..it helps
