Yes. it is a back door - sweetheart deal that Boras made with the Rangers. If they signed him (a Boras client) Boras would try to convince Zito to sign with the Rangers.
Happens all the time with powerful agents.
"help me with this client and i'll see what i can do with the other guy"

I'm from Quebec and i`m a big Gagne fan but Texas over payed for him, maybe a 1 year 4 million dollar contract with incentives if he pitches the full season with X amount of saves. but a straight up 8 million dollar contract is to much of a risk factor.
Hope for Gagne and Texas he has a 40 save or more season

Gagne's Agent and the owners are the ones that made him the offer for all those Buck's, If it was you or any one else in that matter, would we turn that offer down? Regardless on how well he pitches he still gets the Money. We shall see how well he does.

Its not really a surprise considering the amount that everyone is gettin this year. Meche and Lily got double digits millions per year and they have no track record to suggest their contract values. Considering J.D Drew get almos 15 mil a year, its a steal if he's healthy.

I believe he still has potential.

As a Rangers fan, I also have to admit that my team's pitching needs a lot of work. He'll be an asset. He'll be a team leader. I just hope he stays healthy.

Sure, look at what some of the other pitchers got. Its out of control and bad for the future of baseball.

Why not? Everyone else is throwing their money around this year including KC... well, except Florida. Loria is an idiot.
