SATA through-put is approaching SCSI speeds, and can be configured for any RAID approach you wish. another plus is unlike scsi, bandwidth is not shared across the bus, even though scsi can hit higher bandwidth, if you put more than one device on a single controller, you get a performance hit. As far as ease of installation, it is comparable to IDE, but as stated earlier, the smaller cables are nice, you get a nice boost in air flow through the case.

Not just in speed.

Normally an average motherboard could only support up to 4 IDE hard disk. But given a SCSI controller and a special power supply you can connect around 7 SCSI HDD in your PC. This type of connection is normally refer to us Daisy Chain.

But I must warn you SCSI HDD unlike IDE HDD are difficult to configure. It is not just (master) (slave) (cable select), in fact it's jumper settings could be very confusing, especially for a beginner.
