my ford taurus is acting like it is skipping when i crank it and when i give it gas! tonight on the way home i was driving on the interstate and pressed the accelerator pedal and the car started jumping and then after a few seconds it would stop. when i stomped the gas it seemed to act rather well, it just acts up when i gradually give it the gas! what might the problem be?

if the service engine light isn't on then it's more than likely not any of the sensors i would start with a tune up plugs, wires, cap, and rotor that fixed the problem i was having with mine and sounds alot like your problem and it will make you get better fuel mileage anyway and its the cheapest thing to start with

have your Throttle Position sensor checked, and that it is getting the proper amount of fuel. Not sure what type of advance that timing system has, in fact it may be DIS for all I know, so also check the ignition timing, probably have a pro do this as you need special equipment, and not for the novice especially if it is DIS. I highly doubt that it is the mechanical timing, belts, chains and gears tend to go out less then most people seem to think... It does happen once in a while though. Hope this helps and good luck

you're the third human being this week on y/a who has expressed problems with a ford taurus. I used to own a taurus. First the radiator went out on me, then the engine (had it rebuilt), then ultimately the catalytic converter. Fords...noticeably the Taurus are only poor autos. i'm no longer announcing this out of spite...each human being i have spoken to who has ever owned a taurus, has expressed terrible reviews. Fords extremely are: restoration Or Repar on a daily basis stumbled on on the line useless. get rid of it, cut back you losses and search for a vehicle from a special producer. I propose Toyota or Hyundai...yet it truly is as a lot as you.
