a home / school for unwed mothers in England
the drift of the song was kind of a take off on a school anthem
like---- so and so high school forever --- see ??

And---dudes the spot in central park came long after the song and was named that AFTER the song itself---get a clue here !!!

I am a true Beatles fan! Supposidly John had a passion for strawberries in a strong way! He loved them. That passion mixed with drugs equals that great song.

Strawberry Fields (Lennon) and Penny Lane (McCartney) are fictional places created by the most likely drug affected minds of each. by this time they were expertimenting with LSD (still legal at that time btw) and thus the songs reflected that adventurous dream like spirit. It is not meant to be taken literally, but is representative of a mind journey

Strawberry Fields is an orphanage near John Lennon's childhood home.
I think the lyrics are nostalgic, and part of the 'trip' they sing about is down memory lane.
