Has anyone found true friends when you were older, the kind that you will trust your life to? Like the kind that you would lend $10000 to and you knew, you just knew that they would give you that money back no matter what, even if it took them a long time?

Someone that wasn't their spouse.

From my own experience, it is certainly possible to find true friends when you are older in our twenties... I met a friend by correspondance when I was 21 and would you believe we are still friends after 45 years? We went to Europe together and we trust each other despite the long distance that is between us. We use to write to each other by the regular mail but now it is so much easier with the internet! We never married but we have a lot in common. We wrote plays together. She is a performer and we co-authored many plays and monologues. We are both retired now but we shared mutual interests and that is the secret for a long lasting relationship. I feel part of her family and she does mine. She is Afro-American, and I am a pale face from Canada. LOL.

We have never had any prejudices against the color of people's skin, religious background, ethnic problems and there are two things we never touched ! Politic and religion ! LOL And the reason is simple! We see all people as equal. We occasionnally had to deal with money matters but we never had any problems with that. We do love each other very much! But this is my experience. Someone else may be different.

Good luck in finding such a precious friend.

TRUST is tested through time and much more so with friendship. There is no time limit when it comes to gaining friends. Old or young, you will meet people who can be your friends for life. Just keep your doors open. However, with regards to your question involving money, this is a risk. And I am not saying you don't do it. If you are willing to let go of that amount this will definitely test if your friend is true enough or a con.

I've had a lot of friends in my time.... the first time I found a friend I would actually call my best friend i was 22. I don't think I would lend 10000 dollars to anyone.

The older you are, the more likely you will have true friends. It's not like you lose your capacity to make friends when you reach twenty.
