Do the ironing for her and make her lots of cups of tea.
And tell her to rest and not worry about everyone else.

Pull out some old photo albums or photographs and talk about the good old days. Not only will it cheer her up but you will both bond more and you just might find out a few things about her.

Pamper her and watch movies together in your jammies

Honestly, being a mother myself and of course getting sick every now and then the most important thing to me is my children giving me peace and quiet. And of course for them to check in on me at least twice a day to see if there's anything I need or errands to do around the house or errands to run in town. Just knowing they are there and willing makes me feel at ease. I hope your mom feels better soon!

Go above and beyond and get all of her housework done for her. It is amazing how that perks up someone--just to have that weight lifted from their shoulders.
If you REALLY feel ambitious, steam clean her carpets so they will be nice for Christmas.
Then take her for a car ride, just getting in the fresh air will make her feel better.

Clean the bathroom and the kitchen...especially the refrigerator and the window over the sink. Don't reorganize...that makes ma crazy.

When all else fails...ASK and then follow through even if you hate the answer.

1st - don't call her old girl.
2nd - movies - good movies. Simon Birtch - wonderful feel good and yet sad and also spiritual. Other girly movies. Some that just make you feel good. Stand by me. Things of that nature.
3rd - just be there for her. that is enough to make any mom happy!

rent some of her favorite movies, pull out some old pics, have her tell you some stories you may have never heard before..see this as an opportunity for you, as well as bringing a smile to her face.
