pet the dog for awile ....getting the dogs smell on your hands.....then go see the cat letting the cat smell your hands....then pet the cat....to get the cats smell on your hands for the dog to smell.....do this for a few days....they will get to know each others smell......introduce them holding the dog at a safe distance at first ,if the cat seems relaxed then allow them to smell each other......hopefully they will get along

I had the same problem.
The hard part is the age difference of your animals.
Your cat is more likely to be aggressive toward the pup,
than the other way round.
Your puppy is naturally curious with any other animal so you 'must' make sure you are there when the two notice each other, or you'll have a puppy with his eyes scratched out.
Cats and dogs are natural 'enemies' and to get them to accept each other will be quite a chore. Good Luck..
My dogs and cats have 'never' made it to the acceptance stage
and it's been over a year since I got my dogs, but already had grown cats.
