I trimmed " down there" for the first time, and now it's itchy and hurts, what can I do for itchiness, and how can I avoid it? Is it better to shave?

To her it probably is "public" hair....lol.
Not so short next time, sweetie.

I started off using a razor, then progressed to hair clippers, but after many painful cuts, nicks, and in-grown hairs I started looking for alternatives. I bought the body trimmer recommended on http://extra-optical-inch.com/. It's a Phillips brand and is water proof, so you can use it in the shower!

Couldn't be happier, everybody that I've recommend it to has loved it as well.

even though it is nice to be shaved down there, it will always itch when you do it. The hair is suppose to be there to protect the vagina from incoming bacteria, and moisture. When I shave I put a little powder, and it relieves the itchiness. It'll go away after a couple of days.

To avoid itchiness, trim it before taking a shower.
Then, go into the shower and wash it off. Any loose hairs will go down the drain.

That's what I do every time I trim mine. I don't itch.

I do this all the time because it's just cleaner and sexier. Use babypowder for an all the time fixer.....it'll alleviate your itch much more so than a regular itch medicine, because itch medicine is there to attack what has been damaged or burned. Even though this is something like a burn, it is not, it is called a "sensory itch" so your best bet will be something as natural as possible, baby powder first, aloe second. Good luck, Jack

As you shave/trim more often, it itches less when it grows back. You just have to put up with it at first.

Soft underwear and loose pants - yes, very good.

if youre going to keep it down its best to shave regularly in the shower. Use skin cream or Hydrocort cream to suppress the itching for now.

For the time being, wear your older - well -washed - and softer underwear....and loose pants, ha ha.
Cut the hairs a little longer and you wont have that problem next time.
Good Luck

Try some Benadryl Cream. It relaxes the skin. If not Benadryl cream, then use some baby powder.

It's normal. Use aftershave if you shave. Skintimate makes a good raspberry one.
