I was about 3 days late with my period, and took a Facts Plus test that had a neg result, and got what I think is my period the next day. It is very weird though-very lightm, but a bit more than spotting. Could the test be wrong? Should I go the the doc?

False negatives are pretty common, usually from testing too early. HPT's measure the amount of HCG in your urine, and that isn't until bubs implants, that could take 2 weeks, and then a few more days to make enough that can be detected by a hPT. If you try again in a couple of days there might be enough HCG in your urine. Also, what is the sensitivity of the test? some will detect small amounts (10ul) others won't detect less than 50ul. I would advice tyou to get a more sensetive test and try again in a few days. If it s still neg and your still unsure, go get a blood test from your doctor, they are the most accurate way of knowing for sure. in saying that, its most likely if you got your period then you are not pregnan, and it was simply a little late, which can happen for a number of reasons. good luck!

I'm not a doctor so don't take this as medical advice but I have had 2 kids. With the first my pregnancy test was very clearly positive and I did it about 1 week after my period was due. With my second bub I did 4 tests over the space of a week after my period was due (I was sure I was pregnant). The first 3 were negative but the 4th test was positive - now my son is 4 months old. Try again - some tests are less sensitive to the hormone due to various reasons or your pregnancy hormone levels might be a bit low. Also, there is no reason not to go to the doctor. Better to find out and know what you are dealing with then to be wondering. Hope it all turns out as you want it to.

Yes it is possible to have a false negative. I tested the day I missed my period and the test was negative. However, I still felt the pregnancy symptoms so I decided to await another week and sure enough I retested and I was pregnant. Definatley see your doctor so he or she can do an examination.

If you go to an abortion clinic (yikes!), they'll give you a pregnancy test for just $5.00. It's a lot cheaper than getting them at the store. If you're having your period, then just wait until next month. If you really think you're pregnant, though, then take good care of your body in the meantime - no smoking/drinking/drugs...etc.

Some pregnancy tests don't pick up early pregnancies. There are other factors that may have also changed your period date too. Like stress for example. Personally I would go back to your doctor.

its unlikely that the test gave u a false reading, u should really to 2 test if the 1st one reads negative u do the 2nd one a week later if u still havent gotten ur period, if ur worried see ur doc it wont hurt and it'll put ur mind at ease

You can get false negatives, yes indeed.

False positives, not so much.

Try another test. Youre hormone levels may not have been high enough yet for the first one. HCG hormone levels double every day or so when you are first pregnant.

urine tests are not 100% accurate the only way you can be for sure is to go to the dr. and ask for a hgc test. if it shows a trace amout of hgc they will retake your blood everyother day to measure your amounts. to deem if this is a productive pregancy.

That's why the tests come in 2-packs. :)

But yeah, I'd go to your doc.
