You need to just stop. Figure out why you're depressed (if there is a reason) and fix it, with medication if necessary. Try exercise too. That's a much healthier way to release endorphins.

I know that sometimes physical pain seems better than emotional pain.

I didn't cut myself instead I would get tatoos (it wasn't as obvious as self mutilation -that's what its is called you know), needless to say I have 18 now, but I haven't gotten one in over a year.

Polishing your nails is really effective.

Using a plastic knife.

What I have been doing is working out a lot. I mean pushing yourself hard in the gym, or whatever. Do some type of physical activity.

Eat a food with a distincitve taste. I would eat lemons, the bitterness would defer me.

Get out of the house

Reward yourself for "behaving" or discipline yourself for "misbehaving" For example, a new book or outfitt for not cutting or $10 in a jar for each cut.

I also make it a habbit to stay in the company of someone else. I try not to be alone too often.

If you can, dress in layers (shouldn't be a problem cause I am pretty sure you hide your arms and legs), your urge will leave after peeling off all the layers.

Tell someone, a close friend or family member, even if it is only to keep an eye on you from time to time.

But you do need help, you need to confront the problem head on, perhaps in prayer or through counseling. It is not a physial problem, you know that, it has to do with self worth.

Why do you hate yourself?

It will only stop when you really want it to. This is something you have to make up in your mind to do. You have to love yourself and see your self worth.

Until then make sure to rinse those things really good, use anitbiotic ointments or creams, alternate covering and fresh air to heal.

You can get better, you just have to decided when you want to.

Ask for help!!!!!!!

I think the fact that you are determined not to cut yourself is really good and also if you are more careful as well as psychologically if you dont think cutting yourself is bad make it cautious. You could always do something else liek instead of pulling out a knife or whatever pull out a gun of gum and fiddle with it or take paper and destroy it ... something to take your mind out in anger or frustration and no urge to cut yourself and eventually if you don't do it your body don't have an urge no more... sorta liek a craving for a smoke...

You really do need to seek therapy/counciling. In the meantime, try putting a thick rubber band around your wrist and everytime you get the urge to cut.....pull back and let go.....I have heard it works because it gives you a pain sensation that doesn't leave longterm scars that cutting does.

Go for a walk, call a friend, write a letter, volunteer somewhere, clean the house, start a hobby. Just get busy, be productive. You're a beautiful, wonderful, special person - remember that!

Coat of clear nail polish on the nails, pet the dog..ok, those were the answers that are politically correct.

What I did; remove all sharp objects and use a butter knife or a hair barret to get the job done..and you can't stop until you've got it done...it'll cure you fast.

Please get some help. There has to be something in your past that is causing you a lot of pain, enough so that you think nothing of yourself. PLEASE GET HELP!

I'm sure you are a wonderful person...perhaps you just don't feel like it sometimes...but you are.

Please don't cut yourself. You're beautiful just the way you are.

you could chuck out what ever you are cutting yourself with firstly i surpose,
& then you could go see someone to find out why you are cutting yourself & then you could get that person to help you get over what ever it is & get them to help you deal with stuff in the future better.
